wisdom bombs

Keep learning, they say...

I’ve gone to many classes, workshops, seminars, talks, read books, listened to podcasts. It’s all very interesting and deepening. There is no shortage of inspiration, motivators, and variety. Engaging and valuable indeed.

Yet when I reflect on the moments that have rearranged my thinking in an instant, it’s usually been casual moments, in passing, in conversation, with well wishers.

I call these 'wisdom bombs'.

The kind of wisdom that moves and shakes something within me. The most memorable wisdom bombs for me have occurred over a coffee and relaxed conversation.

Nothing is as powerful a teacher as your own lived experience. In the moment when someone imparts their wisdom it is enveloped with their lived experience and the transformation they went through to arrive at a point of learning and growth.

Wisdom in wikipedia is described as: 'wisdom, sapience, or sagacity, is the ability to think and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense and insight. Wisdom is associated with attributes such as compassion, experiential self-knowledge, non-attachment and virtues such as ethics and benevolence.'

In Chinese the symbol for Wisdom is made up of these characters: full of experience, thoughtful, be strategic.

I have heard Joe Dispenza describe wisdom as "a memory without the emotional charge". When you can view your past experiences objectively and grow from them they become a part of your wisdom collection.

Wisdom is about combining knowledge and experiences to be able to discern what helps you and what holds you back. What to hold on to and what to let go of. It is a part of your inner-compass that informs growth and strength. Growth is about using every opportunity to choose between bitter or better. Strength is about balance. Not allowing another to overpower you while being in your own power, and helping others discover their power along the way, simultaneously. Day to day wisdom is the stuff that informs growth and strength and our ability to make purposeful choices.

Wisdom has a magical quality and it likes to travel. It travels the world and it time travels. To you, through you, from you, from others, between you and others, from those before us to those yet to come, bursting with precious magical moments.
